This house was built circa 1860, and had a history in a nice part of
the country. The picture was taken in 1946.
During the Civil War, it was used, at times, as a hospital when there was a battle nearby.
It was, also, used as the County Courthouse at various times over the next few decades.
My mother spent her teenage years in this house, and my grandparents kept it till Grandpa retired
in 1962. He sold it to a Doctor and his wife, and they were likely going to renovate it.
When my grandfather told the Doctor's wife of a female ghost upstairs, they had it razed to the ground,
and built a large brick Ranch style house in its place. Only a few bricks from the three massive
3-story chimneys survive as part of that new house.
